USAC mourns demise of footballer S Rishikanta

IMPHAL, May 20 : The United Social Amateur Club (USAC), Kakwa Lilando Lampak has expressed heartfelt condolences over the sudden and untimely demise of its former executive member and renowned footballer, S Rishikanta.
Rishikanta passed away on May 18 at his residence at Kakwa Lilando Lampak. He was 48 and is survived by his wife and two daughters, said USAC in a condolence note.
An emergency executive committee meeting was convened today at the USAC office in honour of the late player and the members present observed two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the former player and executive member of the club, the note said.
The members also fondly recalled the contributions of the former member, as a player and an executive committee member during the meeting, it said.
Singam Rishikanta was a renowned football player who represented USAC in sub-junior level competition during his school days before his stint at XI Star Sporting Union from 1996 to 1998.
From 1999, he played for Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei till 2006 during which he became a prominent defender (left back). SSU saw their highest achievement during this period and won three CC Meet titles with Rishikanta in the year 2001, 2003 and 2005, the USAC recalled.
Rishikanta retired from football at XI-Star SU, it added.
