KIUG Fencing : MU women's foil team bag gold

Two days after Linthoi Haobam won Manipur University a gold medal in the Individual Epee event in the fencing competition of the 2nd Khelo India University Games, MU women's foil team won a gold to take the tally to 4.
MU women's foil team comprising Ph Anita Chanu of BM College, Khusboorani Laishram of BM College, G Priyaluxmi of Oriental College and N Mina Devi of KP college, fetched the gold medal beating Guru Nanak Dev University team 45-20 today.
MU team reached the final beating Kannur University 45-21 in the semi-final.
Earlier in the quarter final, MU team eased past Sardar Patel University team 45-26.
Sadly, the day also saw the men's sabre team and women's epee team suffer quarter final round exit losing 35-45 to University of Jammu and 43-45 to Panjab University, Chandigarh respectively.
In the athletics, H Bhumeshory Devi had to bite dust in the 800 m event as she finished fourth. With this, MU, which participated in Archery, Athletics, Boxing and Fencing events finished the inter university event hosted by Jain University Bengaluru with 2 gold and 2 bronze medals to earn the second best trophy.
It may be noted tha Ph Anita Chanu (individual foil) and H Bhumeshory (1500 m race) had won MU a bronze medal apiece.
