Ukhrul, May 7 : Delay in fund disbursement has hindered  the implementation of water conservation and forest regeneration project funded by COSFOM & KfW in Ukhrul district.
A team of COSFOM & KfW led by Project Manager Jan Eru Voss, Sangeeta Agarwal, Senior Sector Specialist KfW New Delhi and K Hrishikesh Singh, ACTA/GTA on Saturday visited Choithar and Shirui villages to review the progress of the project and later held an interactive session with the local water resource conservative committee, villa- gers and SHGs.
During the interaction session, villagers of Choi-thar said that they had forgotten about the project as no funds had been released for the project for over two years.
The project was implemented in October 2019 after the village decided to take up water conservation and forest regeneration in the catchment area under the project “Community Based Sustainable Forest Management for Water Resources Conservation in Manipur”.
As per the villagers, they took up the project with a hope that it will bring positive changes to the com- munity.
Saying that they are disheartened by the with- holding of project funds for about two years after they had invested much of their time and labour to the pro-ject, the villagers urged the visiting team to release the fund in time to make the project successful.
The team later inspected the areas where the project were implemented.
