Under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Toycathon 2021 was conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel toy and games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology and ethos.
Toycathon is an inter-ministerial initiative organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell with support from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Textiles, and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Team Thoibi was the only team from the entire North Eastern States to participate at the Nodal Centre.
The team consisted of four students (Longjam Priyashwori Devi, 8th semester, Dept. of ECE, MTU; Sorenshangbam Monika Devi, 8th semester, Dept. of CSE, MTU; Pratiksha Samom, 8th semester, Dept. of CSE, MTU and Oinam Geeta Devi, 8th semester, Dept. of ECE, MTU) as participants and one faculty mentor (Yengkhom Chandrika Devi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE, MTU).

The idea also incorporated schemes like “Beti Bachao Beti Padhhao”, “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, “Environment Conservation”, “Digital India” and “Climate Change”.
