Abducted chief freed

CCpur, Jun 14 : Chief of MT Geltam who was reportedly abducted by a group of armed men has been freed along with his associate  two days after they were abducted from the village.
T Kammuanpau (58), chief of MT Geltam and Goukhanthang (45), s/o (L) Khamzalian of Khajang rea-ched Churachandpur town today at around 3.40 am.
They were reportedly freed by their captors late last night from a location not far from Henglep sub-divisional headquarters.
The duo claimed that they walked for about seven hours following their release to reach the district headquarters.
They also claimed that the captors didn't not torture them while in captivity.
A ransom of Rs 2 crore was reportedly served to secure the safe release of the two individuals .
The families, however, said that they didn't  pay any money to the abductors and thanked all individuals and CSOs who came out to secure the safe release of the chief and his associate.
T Kammuanpau and a man he hired to construct his house were abducted by some armed men on Saturday night from his house.
