Police seize narcoticss worth over Rs 1.3 Cr

IMPHAL, Jun 17 :  A team of Churachandpur police arrested three drug smugglers along with WY tablets worth around Rs 75 lakh yesterday while Tengnoupal CDO seized three packets of suspected crystal meth (methamphetamine) valued at about Rs 62.34 lakh today.
The suspected crystal meth were seized from three persons Lal Joel (Baite) (27) yrs s/o Tongthang Baite of Moreh Ward No 1, Unit 2, Molhoih Veng, Shokholen Guite, (37) s/o Janglhun Guite of Tengnoupal Bazar near Tanky and Mate (37), s/o Onkhojam Mate of Tengnoupal.
They were reportedly travelling in two vehicles (Eeco Van and Maruti A Star.)
The three packets reportedly weighed around 3.117 kg including the weight of the packaging materials.
They have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station.
In another instance, Churachandpur police team arrested three drug smugglers along with WY tablets worth around Rs 75 lakh yesterday.
The source, however, didn't mention whether the value of seized drugs was based on the international or local market.
A team of police led by Inspector N Ingocha,  Officer in Charge of Churachandpur Police Station under the command of Additional SP ( L&O) Th Deshorjit Singh and overall supervision of Churachandpur SP Shivanda Surve conducted a search operation in the suspected area.
During the operation, the police team detected 15 boxes containing 10 thousand WY tablets in each box being carried by one Wahidur Rahman on his car (Alto) from Churachandpur near Kangvai Check Post.
Hence, the police seized 1,50,000 WY worth around Rs 75 lakh and arrested three persons on board in the car by observing formalities after packing the boxes in the presence of two independent witnesses and Executive Magistrate.
The arrested drug smuggler have been identified as Md Wahidur Rahman (47) s/o Late Tayeb Ali of Lilong Tairen Makhong his wife Sarita (35) and Md Mujahid (19), s/o Late Md Rafizuddin Of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
During preliminary interrogation, it was learnt that a Havildar of 1st Manipur Rifles escorted the drug smugglers and in the follow up he was arrested from Khudekpi area near Moirang Lamkhai along with his Creta Car at around 9 pm.
A regular case has been registered.
