Poor road connectivity and lack of adequate infrastructure have caused widespread despair and heartbreaks among the people of Tousem Subdivision.
Due to the recent incessant rain, all existing roads have been damaged forcing the people to go through various hardships.
In a sad turn of events, a 5-month old boy from Old Mandeu of Tousem Subdivision reportedly passed away on Thursday at around 2.30 pm at Tousem PHC due to lack of proper equipment and facilities.
In another incident, residents of Njukuak village were forced to carry a sick patient on a bamboo stretcher to Jiribam Hospital due to poor road connectivity.
The patient was identified as one Nsalumbge s/o Jantuing, chairman of Njukuak village.
The people of the area have appealed to the Minister and Department concerned to ensure proper functioning of the PHC, clear the roads blocked by landslides and construct bridges over the streams and rivers.
