Liquor seized

IMPHAL, Jun 29 : A team of Reserve Line, Imphal East district police seized a large consignment of alcohol from a Tata Ace Mint at Lamlong bridge during a frisking and checking exercise today.
Following this, Imphal East SP M Pradip has announced a cash award along with an appreciation letter for the Reserve Line team.
The apprehended contraband consists of 2400 cans of 500 ml Kingfisher beer, 228 bottles of 750 ml OC Blue, 456 bottles of 375 ml OC Blue and 72 bottles of 375 ml Sterling Reserve.
Two individuals identified as Yumnam Johnson Singh (26) s/o (L) Joybabu from Khonghampat Mayai Leikai and currently residing at Khurai Thangjam Leirak and Chandrama Sah (30) s/o Suraj from Ramnagar in Bihar and currently residing at Majorkhul have been arrested in this connection.
According to reliable information from the police, the reserve line team under the command of W Dhirajkumar, OC Inspector and M Heman Meitei, Head Constable and consisting of three VDFs, namely, N Anil Singh, AK Raju Singh and Y Borish Singh carried out a frisking and checking operation at Lamlong bridge around 12 pm today.
During the course of the operation, a Tata Ace Mint vehicle coming from Pangei was checked which subsequently led to the seizure of the huge consignment of alcohol.
The two arrested persons along with the seized contraband items have been handed over to Porompat Excise Department for further necessary action.
