IMPHAL, Jun 5 : Bishnupur district unit were crowned team champions of the 29th Junior Boys and 13th Junior Girls State Level Boxing Championships organised by the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Bishnupur collected six gold and 4 silver medals to finish on top of the medal tally.
Final day bouts : Amarjit Takhellambam of Bishnupur notched up the junior boys 50 kg category gold as he eased to a 4-1 win over Thongam Nilbir of Imphal West in the final today. Amarjit was also adjudged best boxer in the boys championship as Nilbir was named best loser.
Meanwhile, Ngariyanbam Jupiter of Imphal East outpunched Yaikhomba Laishram of Bishnupur via unanimous 5-0 verdict to claim the 54 kg category gold today as Bishnpur's Khomdram Bikash won the 57 kg category gold beating Elangbam Sunanda of Kakching 4-1 in the final today.
The 70 kg category title on the other hand went to Soibam Yohenba of Bishupur who outclassed Kakching's Gotim-ayum Chidananda Sharma in the final today.
In the junior girls 45 kg category final bout, Laishram Jayaluxmi of Imphal East outpunched Luwangleima Soram of Imphal West to fetch the gold medal. Jayaluxmi was also adjudged best boxers in girls championship while Sneha Chanu of Imphal East emerged best loser. Mayengbam Sagar Chanu then added another gold medal to Bishnupur's tally with a 4-1 victory over Imphal East's Sneha Thangjam in the 48 kg category final bout.
Meanwhile Kakching's Yumnam Niha Devi snatched the 50 kg category gold medal by easing 5-0 past Ayekpam Anjita Chanu of Imphal East.
Luxmi Nongthombam fetched the fifth gold for Bishnupur edging 3-2 over Imphal West's Khumanthem Sinthoi in the 52 kg category final bout as her compatriot Surpriya Thokchom sealed an RSC-I win over Imphal West's Alina Khaidem to win the 54 kg category gold.
In the 57 kg final bout, Phuritshabam Bhumika notched up an easy 4-1 win over Bishnupur's Indika Thiyam to earn Imphal West's third gold medal before her compatriot Puyaluxmi Khundrakpam outpunched Tekcham Neeha of Thoubal in the 60 kg category final bout. Nimsolal Khapai Shimrah also won Ukhrul a gold medal beating Lhingjavei Haokip of Kangpokpi 5-0 in the 66 kg category final.
