Class XII toppers eye civil service, teaching profession Golmei Gaihemmei eyes literature

IMPHAL, Jun 6: Golmei Gaihemmei, d/o G Katazinpou and Gangmei Akashini Kubuini of Langthabal Khoupum, Imphal West who has secured first position in the Arts stream of HSE 2022 has expressed her desire to study Manipuri literature before taking up the profession of teaching.
Speaking to media persons this evening, Golmei Gaihemmei said that she was confident of securing high marks but did not believe she would came out as the topper of the whole State.
She said that she was quite surprised and elated when she saw her name on the top of the merit list.
She said that the credit for her spectacular achievement must go to God, parents and teachers.
Golmei Gaihemmei’s father is now a retired school teacher while her mother is working as a UDC at the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj office.    
She said that she would pursue her higher studies at DM College of Arts.
Saying that she has a penchant since childhood to be associated with children, Golmei Gaihem confided that she would study Manipuri literature and would ultimately work as a teacher.
She also expressed keen desire for students to study the courses of their own choice even if their choices are not the ones chosen by their parents.
