IMPHAL, Jun 6: With regard to the report that one Soibam Ronaldo alias Abungo alias Thoiba was arrested along with 95 fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, the proscribed RPF has clarified that it has nothing to do with the fake currency notes.
A press release issued by the outfit’s Assistant Secretary, Publicity Bangkim said that Jai Singh Jain, proprietor of Mamta Electronic, Thangal Bazar offered to donate Rs 50,000 in response to a request made by the outfit.
Subsequently, Soibam Ronaldo was sent to collect the money but it turned out that the Rs 500 notes given by Jai Singh Jain were fake.
The incident was a farce enacted by Jai Singh Jain in connivance with collaborators of the land with an ulterior motive to tarnish the image of RPF, it said.
At the same time, the incident proved that many non-Manipuri traders have been circulating huge amounts of fake currency notes in the country, it asserted.
It then appealed to all the people to be wary of fake currency notes while doing any business or transaction with non-local traders.
