State level workshop on Silk Samagra-2 organised

IMPHAL, Jul 15: A State level workshop on Silk Samagra-2 for Sericulture development in Manipur was held at the Imperial hall of Hotel Classic Grande today organised by the Department of Sericulture, Government of Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by Rajit Ranjan Okhandiar, IFS, CEO and Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Dr Shailesh Kumar Chourasia, IAS, Secretary, Sericulture Manipur, Dr VK Rahmathulla, Scientist-D, CSB Bangalore and Rene Newmai, Senior Administrative Officer, Directorate as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Rajit Ranjan Okhandiar stated that Manipur has ample potential and is among the best States when it comes to silk industry.
Maintaining that the State has huge scope to explore this particular industry, he said that if the State works earnestly for the enhancement of this particular field, the unemployment issue can be tackled to a great extent and will help in providing regular source of income.
Therefore he appealed to all especially the beneficiaries to make collective efforts and work for the enhancement of silk industry in the State.
Addressing the gathering, Dr VK Rahmathulla appealed to all to avail the benefits of the Governmental schemes in regards to silk industry.
He also deliberated on how to increase silkworm sales and production in the country.
