Shadow CC thrash MPA by 116 runs for second win, YPHU beat PCC by 5 wickets

IMPHAL, Jul 17 : Shadow CC cruised to second Group A victory in the 1st MNCA U-14 Boy's Tournament with a 116 run thrashing of MPA, Thounaojam as YPHU, Lalambung Makhong secured a 5 wicket win against PCC, Mayai Koibi.
In the 7th match of the 11 team tournament staged here at PTRC ground, Patsoi, Shadow CC won the toss and piled up a promising 229 total for 5 wickets in 30 overs and held MPA to 113 all out within 25.1 overs for the big win.
Thomsan hit a ton (104 off 86 balls) and Sagatpam Lanchenba struck a half century (56 off 84 balls) to lay the strong foundation for Shadow CC in their innings which also saw MPA bowlers concede 67 extra runs.
Chingtham Albish Singh of MPA was fierce in his spell of 6 overs as removed Delvish Khunjamayum and Pebam Leishemba on ducks in the 28th over after Thomsan got retired hurt in the previous over.
In reply, MPA folded up for 113 runs after a good start as Thomsan wreaked havoc by removing 4 middle order batters on the trot for 19 runs in four overs and Chinglemba scalped twice for 7 runs in 2.1 overs. Pebam Leishemba, S Telheiba and Devis Khunjamayum also picked up a wicket each to add teeth to the Shadow CC bowling attack today.
Thomsan who shone with both bat and the ball was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at PCC ground-Mayaikoibi, hosts PCC slumped to 5 wicket loss in the hands of YPHU.
PCC were bowled out for 189 runs in 26.2 as Irungbam Tonton bagged five wickets before scoring 24 runs in the chase. Max Warokpam top-scored for PCC with a fine knock of 87 runs off 43 balls (7 fours and 9 sixes) while Chabungbam Paikhomba added 22 runs in the innings which also saw Gurumayum Prince Sharma (2/36) and Bisal Ningombam (2/30) sharing two wickets apiece and Birbal Irom pick one.
In the chase, Gaichuingam Gangmei (28) and Bishal Ningombam (46) set the ton for the win before Irungbam Tonton (24), Irom Eshwor (27 not out) and Birbal Irom (20) made significant contributions towards YPHU's winning 192 total in 28.4 overs. Max Warokpam enjoyed a three wicket haul (3/33 in 6 overs) and Pravin Kumar claimed two wickets (2/26 in 6 overs) in this innings but their efforts went in vain as YPHU batters played cautiously.
Irungbam Tonton of YPHU who returned with the best bowling figure of 5 for 29 in 6 overs and added 24 crucial runs in the chase was named man of the match.
AKSDO will play PTRC a Group A league match tomorrow at PCC Ground, Mayaikoibi while ESU will face off against PTCC in a Group B league match at PTRC ground, Patsoi.
