IMPHAL, Jul 1 : The Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch observed National Doctors' Day under the theme "Family doctors on the front line" at its main auditorium at Lamphelpat today.
The programme began with a brief speech by Dr Ng Arunkumar on the life history of Dr BC Roy in whose memory National Doctors' Day is being observed every year and it was followed by an oath taking ceremony.
The main feature of the observance was the felicitation of six doctors - Health Director Dr K Rajo Singh, RIMS Director Dr A Santa Singh, JNIMS Director Dr Laishram Deben Singh, Director of SHIJA Academy of Health Science Dr Maisnam Amuba Singh, Director of Family Welfare Services Dr Paozachin Guite and State Mission Director of NHM, Manipur Dr Somorjit Ningombam for their dedication and contribution in the field of health care.
At the function, Dr L Deben Singh donated Rs 1 lakh to IMA, Manipur State Branch.
IMA, Manipur State Branch Dr Jugindro Sorokhaibam requested all the doctors of the three medical institutes to support its movement by establishing IMA-Medical Student Network (IMA-MSN) which has already been started in other States.
About 100 IMA members including past office bearers attended the programme.
