IMPHAL, Jul 3 :  The 7th Mao-Imphal Market Day 2022 was observed today at Kabo Leikai Nongchup in the presence of Outer Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze and Wangoi AC MLA Kh Loken Singh.
During the observance, the gathering maintained silence for  two minutes in honour of the deceased members of Mao Imphal Market Coordination Committee (MIMCC).
MIMCC chairman Besii Pfoze Mao and vice chairman Ksh. Chingkhei Luwangcha also attended the programme.
Speaking as the chief guest of the observance,  Dr Lorho Pfoze said that the hills and the valley are integral parts of Manipur whose development is equally important to take the State forward.
Saying that people of both the hills and valley must shun violence and focus on development through mutual trust and understanding, the MP said that peace will prevail when there is love.
Further stating that the temporary Mao market at Imphal is an embodiment of the good relation between the hills and valley people, Dr Lorho Pfoze opined that setting up a permanent market with bigger storage facilities will benefit the people of Mao greatly.
He further opined that setting up similar markets for the people of other districts such as Ukhrul, Chandel, Churachandpur, Tamenglong and others will foster the hill-valley relation.
MLA Kh Loken said that the opening of Mao Market in Imphal was a historic moment for the State and hopefully it would be upgraded by the Government from time to time.
