Sushanta wins All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tourney singles title

IMPHAL, Jul 4 : Qualifier Sushanta Moirangthem claimed singles title at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2022 held at Mohali under the aegis of Badminton Association of India.
The State lad defeated Vedant Pahwa 21-14 21-10 to fetch the sub-junior boys singles title today at Shivalik School Main Hall 1 today.
Earlier in the semi-final staged today, Sushant held his nerve to beat number 2 seeded Girivasan Saravana Kumar 21-15 16-21 22-20 in one hour at Shivalik School Main Hall 3 to book the final berth.
Earlier in the qualification round matches, Sushanta knocked out Kritiya Patel 21-12 21-13 before seeing off Shantvik Rao 21-10 21-13 to enter the main round.
In the main draw first round, Sushant beat Abhiram Tripuraneni 21-16 21-6 before beating compatriot Martin Ingudam 21-15 21-10 to make it to the third Round.
In the third round, Sushanta outlasted Vajra Chowdary 21-7 21-11 to secure a quarter final berth. In the quarter final, Sushanta got the better of Mohit Dharsan 21017 21-13 to set up a semi-final date with Girivasan Saravana Kumar.
Manipur's Rishav Ngangom also made it to the third round but ended his campaign with a 17-21, 9-21 loss to Girivasan Saravan Kumar. Earlier in the first round, Rishav outlasted Thrishan Kumar M 21-9, 21-8 and edged out Shsashank Vanamala 22-24, 21-11, 21-8 in the second round.
Another qualifier from Manipur, Sapam Shyamchandra got a first round bye but suffered a second round exit with a 14-21 17-21 loss to Nishanth Bhukya.
