IMPHAL, Jul 7
Manipur Loumi Lup has appealed to the State Government to bring about a change in the fertilizer distribution system of the State and entrust District Agriculture Officers to distribute urea and other fertilizers to the farmers.
In a statement, Manipur Loumi Lup said that the State Government's current tactic of distributing urea through the MLAs of the respective constituencies has not been successful.
Manipur Loumi Lup claimed that this distribution system has alienated innocent farmers without any political connections.
The statement also added that the State Government does not seem to share Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Piyush Goyal's vision of food and nutrition security by increasing production of grains as well as lands under agriculture.
Lastly, the statement has demanded relevant authorities to reveal the owners of the recently seized 300 bags of urea from Churachandpur.
