Mayophung Village Authority appeals

The Mayophung Village Authority has expressed its anguish over the recent arrest of Thangjam Purnima (47) by the Government of Manipur on September 6, 2022 from Bethel House Healing Centre near Yaingangpokpi Police Station, Imphal East.
In a release, S Somata, secretary Mayophung Village Authority informed that the raid and arrest was carried out on September 5 & 6, 2022 at the Healing Centre located within the vicinity of Mayophunfg village in Ukhrul district.
The secretary alleged that the raid was conducted acting on information & complaints lodged by some people with vested interest on the ground that the centre was unauthorized and without proper facilities/infrastructure.
"As far as we are concerned, Purnima is a converted Christian and God fearing lady. She has been here since 2018 rendering yeoman services in the area. A good number of patients & drug addicts are being cured and healed through counselling", it added.
Stating that the arrest of Purnima was unfortunate, the village authority further appealed to the authorities concerned to release her in the interest of the public.
