126th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot celebrated

BPR/THB, Sep 11 : Irawat Celebration Committee in association with Manipur Jagoi Marup, Indian People's Theatre Association and Nat Academy, Tentha celebrated the 126th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot Singh at Tentha Multiplex yesterday.
During the event, former Minister, Dr M Nara; Progressive Writer Forum Manipur ex-president, Langol Iboyaima; and Manipuri Jagoi Marup president, Ng Amumcha led the floral tributes to a portrait of Jananeta Hijam Irabot.
"Irawat Ningsing Mana" was also awarded to Birendra Wahengbam (Manipur Theatre), Moirangthem Surchandra (Manipur Pung Ishei Jagoi), RK Sanaton and Oinam Arun (Sumang Lila), and Brahmacharimayum ongbi Chanchan (Leima Sisak Henbi).
Moreover, as part of the "Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thabum" (month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Irabot), Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) and Rising Club Ngaikhong Khullen jointly organised the 1st Open Bishnupur District Level Painting Competition on the theme, "Irabot and his socialism" at the club premises yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Takhellambam Surjit Mangang, secretary Rising Club stated that winners of the painting competition will be announced on Irabot Day.
He also mentioned that the painting competition participated by more than 100 students was organised to promote socialism among the younger generation.
SSUM president, Soraisam Yaima and volunteers of Rising Club also attended the event.
