IMPHAL, Sep 13 :  The Session Judge Imphal West on Tuesday reserved the sentence order against convict Athokpam Geetchandra who 'stabbed' a labourer to death till September 17 .
Convict Athokpam Geetchandra (27), s/o Muhindro of Serou Makha Leikai was convicted by the same Court on September 9 which fixed today for sentence hearing.
The convict was produced from Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa while the Court heard APP of the State and defence counsel at length and reserved the sentence order till September 17.
The case was on against the convict from December 5, 2017 after the owner of the Sapam Nursery Farm located at Lilong Chajing lodged a written complaint to police.
Claiming that a quarrel broke between the two on the same day at around 8 pm following which the convict stabbed the deceased using a knife, it added that the victim died at JNIMS Hospital. The APP also submitted that the victim uttered some insulting words to the convict, following which the convict got furious, took a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim.
As per the APP, the bloodstain on the knife matched with the blood of the victim and the post mortem report said that the death of the victim was due to lung injury.    
The defence counsel submitted that the convict was just having dinner but the victim said something which provoked the convict to attack the victim.
The Court on perusal of the material available on record that the question is whether the convict intended to kill the victim or he just did his act on sudden provocation.
The witnesses of the case have stated that the convict and the victim drank liquor and had dinner together on that particular day but the victim said some unwanted things to the convict.
