CCpur/Tbl/Jiri, Sep 2 : Joining the State wide protest held by over 3000 teachers who are previously known as SAMAGRA Teachers, a good number of teachers staged sit-in-protests at Churachandpur, Jiribam and Thoubal districts today.
The protest demonstrations were staged in front of the Zonal Education Office of the three districts.
At Churachandpur, the protesters demanded that their salary heads should not be altered nor should they be segregated from other employees of the Education Department.
The teachers who alleged that they have already been absorbed in the Department of Education (S) expressed their discontentment over the letter issued by the Directorate of Education (S) on August 12, 2022 which directed all ZEOs/DDOs and Head of Institutions to forward fund proposal and segregate the teachers as SAMAGRA and Department.
The protesters claimed that the change in their salary will bring irregularities in their salary 'as was the case in their pre-integration period.'
Payment of salaries and allowance during those days were solely dependent on the funding from the Centre and was inconsistent, they said and added that the teachers took a mass casual leave for two days starting yesterday as the Education Minister and authorities concerned failed to give a positive response.
Similar protests were also staged at Thoubal and Jiribam.
