JAC imposes ban on individuals for 'contemptuous statement'
UKHRUL, Sep 20
The JAC for the Development of Old Ukhrul Road from New Haven to Halang/Tolloi Junction Via Lamaing Gate has imposed a travel ban on the duo namely Ningkahao Phazang of Pharung Village and Wilson Rephung of Seikhor Village, Ukhrul District within the villages under the jurisdiction of the JAC with immediate effect until further orders.
A press release by the JAC has informed that the decision to impose the travel ban was taken at a meeting held on September 9, 2022 attended by all the Headmen of the villages namely, Shokvao, Lambui, Ramva, Tashar, T. Chanhong, Pharung and Hunphun/Ukhrul.
This extreme step was necessitated due to 'contemptuous statement made by the duo to the JAC terming it as self-style organization' through The Sangai Express English edition dated August 7, 2022 and for the failure to comply to the notice served to them through the same local daily dated August 16, 2022 and summon copy served to them personally.
It may be noted that the JAC has made supreme sacrifices to revive the road by providing all the logistic support to survey teams under MORTH and PWD at free of cost for almost three years and successfully completed the survey to upgrade the road to double lane, added the release.
