IMPHAL, Sep 6 : Ngangom Kajal clinched three gold medals in Manipur's record haul of 31 medals including 15 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals to seal the overall team champions title at the 21st Junior National Wushu Championships 2022 held at Calicut, Kerala.
In the championship which began on September 1, Ngangom Kajal won Manipur gold medals in the Changquan, Daoshu and Gunshu events.
Achom Tapas also won a gold medal and two bronze medals in the Daoshu and Gunshu events as Leimapokpam Nelson Meitei settled for two silver medals finishing second in the Jianshu and Qiangshu events.
Wahengbam Bhumeswor also shone at the championship winning two gold medals, one apiece in the Taijiquan and Taijijian events. Maisnam Diamond also struck two gold medals finishing on top in the Taijiquan (Traditional) and Single Weapon (Traditional).
Other winnings gold medals for Manipur in Taolu events  are Olica Naorem (Taijijian), Ngamba Aheibam (Taijishan), Thoungamba (Daoshu), Jona Princie Konsam (Taijishan), Gurumayum Devesh Sharma (Nandao) and Thingam Sandeshwori Chanu (Taijiquan-Traditional).
Meanwhile players winning silver medals in the Taolu events are Waikhom Gyaneshor (Wingchung-Trational), Oinam Malemnganba (Taijiquan), Ngamba Aheibam (Taijishan), Waikhom Silvia (2 medals: Taijiquan-Traditionl, Single Weapon-Tradition) and Thoungamba Aheibam (Gunshu) as Chingangam Dinesh (Nanquan), Taruba Khuraijam (Taijiquan-Traditional), Angom William (Single Weapon-Traditional) and Khaidem Panthoi Devi (Other Style-Traditional) won Manipur Bronze medals.
In Sanda events, Kh Chaoba won a gold medal in the below 48 kg U-17 girls category as N Abenao (U-17 girls- below 60 kg) and S Sunil (U-17 boys- below 56 kg) settled for a silver and bronze medal respectively.
The State team were led by Taolu Coach, H Dewan Singh; Sanda Coach, M Ronel Singh and Ph Bormani as manager.
