THOUBAL, Sep 6: Kakching Popular Sporting Club (KPSC) Kakching Khunyai Leikai conducted a felicitation programme to encourage meritorious students today at Shri Shri Radhamadhop Mandop located at Kakching Khunyai Leikai.
It may be noted that students who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM and hailing from the areas under the jurisdiction of Kakching Popular Sporting Club (KPSC) Kakching Khunyai Leikai were feted during the day's programme.
The felicitation programme was attended by Dr Usham Deven Singh, Wabagai Assembly Constituency MLA as the chief guest; Yengkhom Shyamchandra Singh, president, KPSC as the functional president and Naorem Nopur Singh, proprietor, Bhubon Brick Field Kakching and social worker N Tabop Devi as the guests of honour.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Usham Deven Singh lauded KPSC for organising the programme to encourage the meritorious students adding that a community progresses when local clubs take the responsibility and push forward with activities for the betterment of society.
Adding that he would put up the monetary amount required to complete the construction of the KPSC office, he assured the people of his continued support in the future as well.
The MLA also urged the clubs and organisations to come together to fight drug menace in Kakching and save the future generation from the evil of drugs.
As a part of the felicitation programme, KPSC presented the MLA with a simple gift.
Aside from this, the elders of the community were also presented with a shawl each while the students were awarded with a certificate, cash prize and a shawl.
