Firecrackers and beating of drums everywhere,
As the clock struck midnight
On the last day of the year 2022,
Awakened by the sound of my dog barking
On a chilly winter night,
I woke up thinking of the new year's resolution
That lay before all of us...
Elsewhere a mother and her only child in a war torn country,
Whose husband is a valiant soldier,
Long gone to the battlefield
Hope after hope she dreams of her husband's victorious return.
The sounds of the missile rocket echoing
Through the window ,
The snow Laden glass pane Shattered on the floor, What could be the new year's resolution?
For this woeful lady
Whose husband's whereabouts
Still in a dilemma, dead or alive...
Yes, it is also a reality as we step into the new year...
