IMPHAL, Jan 2 : S Tombi Singh Memorial 4th U-14 Girls Inter Club Football Tournament kicked off today under the aegis of the All Manipur Football Association at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
6 teams are taking part in this league tournament.
In the opening match of the tournament, The Young Welfare Club-Langthabal (YWC-L) overwhelmed Youth Welfare Club-Thambalkhong (YWC-Th) by 7-2 goals thanks to trebles from Sorokhaibam Lakhipiyari and Loukrakpam Seityamala.
Sorokhaibam Lakhipiyari opened the scoring just one minutes into the game and went on to grab two more goals (32', 40+2') before the break while Seityamala opened her account in the 12th minute before scoring twice in the second half (54', 55'). Sorokhaibam Silky scored the team's third in the 13th minute. Meanwhile for YWC-Th, Mangpineng Khongsai netted a brace (20', 23') but her team failed to stage a comeback as YWC defence did well to keep out all threats in the remainder of the game after conceding the two goals.
Later in the second match, Salam Anjulika banged home five goals (9', 15', 16', 41', 42') to hand FC Imphal a convincing 6-0 victory over Wangoi Football Association (WAFA). The other goal for the team was scored by Lhinggunthem Guite in the 19th minute.
Meanwhile in the third match of the day, Irom Priyadashini scored in the 24th minute to hand ICSA-Irengbam a slender 1-0 win over Women Football Academy (WFA).
On January 5, FC Imphal will play YWC-L (from 10.30 am), ICSA will play WAFA (12.30 pm) and YWC-Th will play WFA.
