Rajeshwari Yengkhom conferred Usham Nilchandra Memorial Literary Award 2022

THOUBAL, Jan 3 : The Usham Nilchandra Memorial Literary Award 2022 has been conferred on Rajeshwari Yengkhom for her poetry book titled “Ningtambagi Machu”.
The award was presented to her during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library at Yairipok Badminton Indoor Stadium today.
It may be noted that "Ningtambagi Machu" is the first poetry work of Rajeshwari Yengkhom, daughter of Yengkhom Dhananjoy Singh and Yengkhom Ibechaobi Devi of Kakching Laithagol Leikai.
Now a resident of Sagolband Khamnam Leirak, Rajeshwari Yengkhom is wife of Naorem Joykumar of Kakching Wairi Pung Pareng.
The Usham Nilchandra Memorial Literary Award was sponsored by Niranjan Usham, general secretary of Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library in the memory of his father, Late Usham Nilchandra.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a shawl and a recognition certificate.
Late Usham Nilchandra was an art lover. He reportedly established the Yairipok Monuleima Hall and gave people a taste of cinemas and dramas.
He was also a former patron member of Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library and partook in all activities related to the organisation. He passed away in 1999.
Dignitaries present at the event include Keisham Meghachandra, MLA Wangkhem AC as the chief guest; Rajendra Mutum, vice-president, Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library as the functional president and Raghubir Thiyam, founder, Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library and Nongmaithem Kirankumar, convenor, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi as the guests of honour.
