DIMAPUR, Jan 30 : The NSCN (IM) has made a clarification today with regard to the January 27 incident which went viral on social media, reports NNN.
In a statement, the outfit said, "What happened on January 27, 2023 at a place near the General Field Training Headquarters (GFTHq) of NSCN between the Assam Rifles (AR) and NSCN is something that is highly regretted".
This happened as the 25th Assam Rifles came too close for comfort breaching one Km radius, according to the NSCN IM). The matter was, however, settled amicably keeping in mind the interest of the prevailing ceasefire, it added.
The NSCN (IM) then said that there was no snatching of weapons and both parties mutually agreed to part ways peacefully with handshakes.
The outfit, however, expressed regret that whoever had taken the video clips of the incident and uploaded them on social media was done "without the knowledge or sanction of the NSCN authority or Naga Army".
According to the NSCN (IM), uploading the videos on social media is regretted and the "NSCN and Naga Army tender apology on behalf of the erring persons who had uploaded the videos on social media".
NSCN (IM) then said it is committed to the ceasefire signed in 1997.
"We look forward that such an unfortunate incident never re-occur in the days to come by respecting the spirit of ceasefire ground rules by both the Naga Army and the Indian armed forces," the statement added.
