Imphal rolls out red carpet for Amit Shah

IMPHAL, Jan 5 : Imphal rolled out the red carpet for Union Home Minister Amit Shah who arrived today.
The Union Home Minister, who is on a scheduled visit to the State to launch several projects, was welcomed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport at around 7.30 pm.
Beside the Chief Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah was also given a warm welcome by Union MoS Dr RK Ranjan, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Ministers Nemcha Kipgen, L Susindro, Govindas Konthoujam, Khasim Vashum, Chief Secretary, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sarda, party officials, and top police officials.
Later, several Ministers and MLAs welcomed Amit Shah at City Convention Centre, Imphal to a dinner.
Notably, Amit Shah is visiting 11 States including Manipur and poll bound Tripura and Nagaland.
At Tripura today, he flagged off “Jan Vishwas Yatra”, BJP’s first election yatra in the State.
Earlier, he was scheduled to reach Agartala yesterday night, however due to adverse weather conditions, his flight had made an emergency landing in Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Meanwhile, security was beefed up at Imphal before his arrival today evening.
Tomorrow, the Home Minister is scheduled to inaugurate several projects including Churachandpur Medical College, Kangla Nongpokthong and a 122 feet high Polo statue at the Ibudhou Marjing Complex among others. He is also scheduled to unfurl the tri-colour at Moirang INA complex.
The Home Minister wil also lay foundation stones of several projects and dedicate the Olympian Park, constructed in recognition of sportspersons who brought laurels for the country and Manipur. Before his arrival here, on January 3, the Chief Minister had visited several sites and inspected the progress of the works and preparations for Amit Shah’s visit.
The Chief Minister had earlier inspected Chura-chandpur Medical College and the heritage site at INA Moirang complex.
