IMPHAL, Jan 5 (DIPR)
To address the plight of the people, he aims to visit and interact with people of different communities and understand their culture, tradition and way of life, said Governor La Ganesan.
He said this while interacting with MLAs, DLOs (District Level Officers), representatives of civil society organisations, clubs and locals at Kumbi Kangjei-bung, under Moirang sub-division, Bishnupur district today.
During the interaction programme, Governor La Ganesan enquired about various developmental projects being taken up in the district particularly in Kumbi Assembly Constituency.
Hearing grievances and problems raised by the people, La Ganesan assured that he would extend all possible assistance and asked the authorities concerned including the Chief Minister to take remedial steps at the earliest.
“My objective is to interact with people of different communities in the State to know their culture, tradition and way of life. Most of the issues raised by the people are genuine. The issues have to be addressed in a time bound manner,” he said.
The Governor observed that connectivity, healthcare, education and irrigation etc are the basic and immediate issues which have to be addressed as soon as possible and asked the officials concerned to take appropriate steps.
On COVID-19, La Ganesan said the State Government was able to control the pandemic because of its prompt action and support of the people.
With regard to reports of surging cases of Covid due to a new variant of the virus, he said  vaccination should be enhanced.
He also appealed to the authorities concerned of the Health Department to conduct a survey in Bishnupur district to identify TB patients for taking up remedial measures.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of drug users among the youths in the State, the Governor said, this has to be, in any case, prevented with collective efforts including CSOs and general public.
Collective efforts are very much necessary and the State Government has already committed to make Manipur, a drug free State, he added.
Further, La Ganesan said Bishnupur will host events of the G-20 Summit in February.
“We all should feel proud that the G-20 Summit will be held in Bishnupur district. After a few years, Bishnupur district, particularly the Loktak Lake will be one of the most popular tourist hubs of the State, for which unstinted support from the public is quite indispensable,” he added.
