Mera Chaoren Houba celebrated

IMPHAL, Oct 15 : Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board today celebrated the "Mera Chaoren Houba" festival at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple in Haying Khongban Uphong Yumpham.
To start the annual celebration, priests and priestesses collected sacred water from Nungjreng Pukhri in Kangla and took out a procession till Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple.
Speaking to media persons, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board vice president Bidyapati Senjam stated that Mera Chaoren Houba is an important religious festival dedicated to Lainingthou Sanamahi which is celebrated on the first day of the month of Mera in Meitei calendar.
Extending greetings to the people on the joyous occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba, Bidyapati expressed hope that may the festival give more courage and strength to brave heroes who are fighting to protect the State's integrity.
Later, members of Huyen Mamom were sworn-in at the premises of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board.
