‘Pabung Iboyaima’ remembered on his 7th death anniversary

IMPHAL, Oct 28 : The Pabung Iboyaima Memorial Trust today observed the 7th death anniversary of Pabung Iboyaima at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Community Hall, Imphal under the theme, "Farmers' impact due to present crisis".
It was attended by Kh Gopen Luwang, convenor Pabung Iboyaima Memorial Trust & president Irabot Foundation Manipur; Ph Nando Luwang, president AMUCO; Phulindro Konsam, chairman COHR; Soraisam Memcha, president Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM); Y Kunjarani, president AMWOVA; Th Ajit, president NRC; Hijam Meghachandra, president YOFFS and L Ibotombi, president AMESCO as presidium members.
The programme began with the gathering paying floral tribute to a photograph of Pabung Iboyaima.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Gopen Luwang recalled the contribution of Pabung Iboyaima towards securing territorial integrity, conserving culture and unification of all to realise an equitable society.
He said that farmers of the State are reeling due to the conflict which has been going on for more than 5 months.
"According to various survey reports, the agriculture and allied sector of Manipur had incurred a loss of around Rs 350 crore because of the present unrest", said Kh Gopen while appealing to the Central & State Governments to provide special packages for farmers.
Ph Nando Luwang and Soraisam Memcha also spoke on the occasion.
