World Stroke Day observed

As observed across the world, Sky Hospital & Research Centre Pvt Ltd observed World Stroke Day by organising a 'Free Stroke OPD' at the hospital.
As per a statement issued by Oinam Latasha Devi, Public relation Officer, Sky Hospital & Research Centre Pvt Ltd, facilities for free ECG (for detection of irregular heartbeat, Atrial fibrillation), detection of heart valve diseases, high BP, diabetes etc were provided during the Free Stroke OPD to create awareness among the people of Manipur about the devastating impacts of strokes worldwide.
The statement informed that strokes are the world no. 1 cause of disability and no. 2 cause of death. It pointed out that there is a need for preventive measures for this deadly disease through early detection of the causative factors to treat them effectively.
Such measures will help prevent up to 90% of all stroke  cases.
In addition, Dr L Shyamkishore Singh, Chief Cardiologist and physician of Sky Hospital emphasized on the importance of reporting to hospital after suffering from a stroke as soon as possible or within 4 hours and 30 hours for early diagnosis. This is imperative for appropriate treatment to reduce the likelihood of death and/or disability, said the Chief Cardiologist.
He added that Sky Hospital has made such arrangements and will make the service available around the clock in the interest of the public.
