AKSDO, PCC win as 3rd MNCA Super Plate Tournament 2023-24 kicks off

IMPHAL, Nov 13 : AKSDO-Khangabok and PCC-Mayaikoibi registered wins as the 3rd edition of MNCA Super Plate Tournament kicked off today at two venues.
In the first match of the tournament staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, AKSDO were asked to bat first and eventually they racked up 192 runs for 8 wickets in allotted 40 overs thanks to Sanayai's 35-ball 59. Riding on Roshan's prolific bowling performance, AKSDO bowled out FORCE for 161 runs to open their Group (A) campaign with a 31 run victory.
Kh Bishorjit 26 and L Winchelly 29 gave AKSDO a fighting start before Akash (38 not out) and Sanayai (59) took the tally close to 200 mark.
The innings saw Kabir 2/37 and Tashib 2/13 sharing four wickets as four other bowlers picked a wicket each.
In reply, FORCE had a sloppy start but the middle order batters Naeem 23, Kabir 32 and Saddam Shah 48 tried to revive the chase but failed to withstood pressure and collapsed at 161 in 35 overs.
Roshan 4/25 led the AKSDO bowling attack as Sanayai 2/26 grabbed two crucial wickets. Akash and Rohit also managed a wicket each.
Sanayai of AKSDO who batted and bowled well was eventually named man of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College Ground, PCC opened their Group (B) campaign with a 44-run victory over RCA-Lilong.
Put in to bat first, PCC had to cut their innings short in 36.2 overs with 156 runs on the scoreboard but successfully defended their total courtesy of L Ronald who led in bowling out RCA at 112 in 30.1 overs.
Ch Tyson 26, L Ronald 26 and Ch Ranjan 32 were the main run getters for PCC in their innings which saw Md Danish 2/28, Naesh Hussain 2/25 and Syed Hussain 2/16 keeping things tight.
The chase went similar as wickets kept tumbling in regular interval and slumped at 112 all out with PCC bowling attack led by L Ronald 4/26 and L Chingkhei 2/13 proving more frugal and incisive.
Ajay Kumar, S Rohit and M Lucky also contributed in piling pressure on RCA by registering a wicket apiece.
L Ronald who produced an allround performance was adjudged man of the match.
