IBSA, SDC seal victories in 8th MNCA Plate Tournament

IMPHAL, Nov 13 : IBSA-Yumnam Leikai and SDC- Laipham Khunou emerged victorious in today's matches of the ongoing 8th MNCA Plate Tournament.
At Lairenjam Public ground, IBSA posted a 28 run victory by posting a total of 157 runs after electing to bat first and restricting KIYC to 129 within 23.2 overs.
Nelson 21, Heroman 15, Riyaj 31 and Bhumendro 21 contributed in IBSA's innings before being bowled out for 157 runs in 37.5 overs as Akip 4/39 of KIYC produced a commanding bowling performance with the assistance of Abdulla 2/18.
In the chase, Abdulla scored an unbeaten 46 off 29 to give KIYC a late hope but his effort went in vain as they succumbed at 129 as Tamim 4/16, Bhumendro 2/34 and Karan 2/33 put in a concerted bowling effort.
Rajiv 13, Farhat 11 and Geetchandra 12 were also double digit run getters for KIYC in the chase.
Tamim of IBSA who claimed four wickets and added 10 runs was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public ground, SDC elected to bat first and piled up a competitive total of 248 runs for 3 in allotted 38 overs riding on a brilliant first wicket partnership and held YPHUC to 200 all out in 35.3 overs.
The opening pair of Subhaschandra (83-ball 87) and Rahis Khan (86-ball 73) blasted off half centuries to give SDC a rousing start before Donny Laishram 29 and Ziad Khan 22 saw out the innings for the fourth wicket stand.
Vedanth 2/21 and Rishi 1/31 of YPHUC were the wicket takers in this innings.
In reply, YPHUC saw its opener Amrindra Prasad depart on golden duck before Sunny Irom 39 and B Bishworaj 22 led the chase.
After a flurry of four more wickets, Birbal Irom (40) and S Robinson (34) produced a memorable 7th wicket partnership before things got tough again with SDC bowlers regaining their control.
SDC's Donny returned with the best figures of 3/27 in 6 overs as medium pacers Krishnakanta (2/15) and Vishal (2/6) claimed two wickets apiece.
Subhaschandra who led the batting for SDC was adjudged man of the match.
