Agriculture Minister distributes Rabi seeds

IMPHAL, Nov 13 : To help the farmers whose agricultural activities have been hampered by the present unrest and scanty rainfall, the Department of Agriculture, Manipur, today organised a "Distribution of Rabi seeds as an alternative to water scarce affected areas during Kharif 2023" programme at Seed Godown, State Mechanized Farm in Lamphelpat, Imphal.
During the programme, Agriculture Minister Thongam Biswajit handed over seeds for winter crops to District Agriculture Officers for distribution to farmers at their respective districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Thongam Biswajit shared that the winter crop seeds were distributed to help the farmers whose agricultural activities during the Kharif season were affected due to the current crisis and inadequate rainfall.
Expressing hope that the Rabi seeds will help boost agricultural productivity in the State, the Minister stated that the Department of Agriculture will distribute 9.8 MT of Maize seeds, 56.225 MT of Lentil seeds, 62.05 MT of Mustard seeds and 19.84 MT of Field Pea seeds to the farmers.
The Minister also asserted that the Rabi seeds will be distributed to all the farmers through their concerned District Agriculture Officer.
Thongam Biswajit further appealed to the farmers to avail the benefits of the schemes/ projects launched by the Government.
Agriculture commissioner Rk Dinesh also attended the programme.
