KMA, GMF Ningols dedicate funds for IDPs
IMPHAL, Nov 13: Ningol Chakkouba, a cherished festival symbolising the bond between sisters and brothers, takes on a poignant significance this year as KMA and GMF South Korea Chapter joined hands for a greater humanitarian cause.
Ningols of Korea Manipuri Association (KMA) and Global Manipur Foundation (GMF) have decided to dedicate the funds traditionally allocated for Ningol Chakkouba celebration for supporting internally displaced people amid ethnic conflict, said KMA today.
KMA, in solidarity with the affected communities, has decided not to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba this year. Instead, the funds earmarked for the celebration, combined with generous contributions from the Ningols and support from GMF South Korea Chapter, has been dedicated for supporting IDPs affected by the ethnic conflict, said KMA in a statement.
This initiative underscores the collective responsibility felt by the Ningols of various Manipuri communities living overseas.
"During these challenging times, the essence of Ningol Chakkouba extends beyond our immediate families to encompass the larger Manipuri family. Our decision to dedicate the celebration funds towards IDPs serves as testimony for our hearts, mind and feelings for standing together united, despite physical distances, with our unfortunate IPDs in the face of adversity brought by the ongoing conflict," stated the Ningol Team of Korea Manipuri Association and GMF South Korea Chapter.
