“232 PACS to be computerised, granted fertilizer distributor license by Dec”

IMPHAL, Nov 14: The Ministry of Cooperation is aiming to computerise 232 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) of the State along with granting them fertilizer distributor licenses by December of this year, asserted Arambam Valentina, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Manipur.
The Cooperative Societies Registrar made the assertion during the inaugural function of the 70th All India Cooperative Week Celebration held at Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU) Complex located at Lamphelpat today.
The 70th All India Cooperative Week Celebration has been jointly organised by MSCU, Imphal and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur.
The week-long celebration which is slated to conclude on November 20 is being organised under the theme “Role of Co-operatives in making India a $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs” and on the topic “Recent Developments in Co-operatives”.
Speaking as the chief guest, Arambam Valentina stated that seven PACS have received fertilizer distributor licenses and efforts are underway to issue this license to the remaining 232 PACS under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendra (PMKSK) by December of this year.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a representation has been sent to the PHED Department to make PACS the agency responsible for operation and maintenance of the "Pipe Water Scheme", she added.
She also expressed belief that cooperative societies will play a key role in the State's race towards development if they strictly adhere to the cooperative principles in their functioning.
The event was also attended by L Tompishak Singh, president, MSCU; Kh Maniton Singh, vice president (valley), MSCU; Neilangam Gangmei, vice president (hill) and Khoichung Rangamlian Aimol, Director, ICM.
