JIRIBAM/THOUBAL, Dec 12: The 84th Nupi Lan observation was held widely today in the State and beyond commemorating the brave mothers of Manipur who fought valiantly against the oppressive policies of the British.

The Nupilan observation was held today at auditorium hall at Udharbond block organised by Assam Manipuri Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMMPAL)
The observation was graced by MLA of Udharbond Constituency, Mihir Kanti Shome; AMMPAL president Beni Mishra; AAMSU president Ngasepam Sanahal and MYFA president Thangjam Brojen as presidium members among others.
Around 500 Meira Paibis took part in the observation.
A number of resolutions which include urging the authorities to resolve the communal crisis in Manipur and to take up measures to grant Manipuri language the status of Associate Official Language of Assam among others.
The day was also observed at Sribar GP community hall organised by All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Co-ordination Committee, Central Committee Headquarters, Silchar.
The hoisting of Committee's flag by committee president, Konjengbam ongbi Aruna Devi marked the beginning of the observation followed by paying of floral tributes to the photos of departed brave mothers of Manipur.
All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Co-Ordination Committee vice-president Khaidem Bimbhabati Devi; advisor Ngangom Ramakanta Singha and Athouba Ningsing Lup, Lakhipur president Rajkumar Sanahal attended the programme as the presidium members.
As a part of the programme, retired Professor of the Department of History, GC College, Silchar, Dr Thokchom Babachandra Singha delivered a lecture on the topic 'The impact of Nupi Lan in Manipuri society' and briefed on the history of Nupi Lan.
Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Brahmaputra Valley Assam in collaboration with Bokajan Karbi Anglong District Committee also observed the 84th Nupi Lan Day at Chingu Epa Shanglen attended by the members of the organizations and locals of the area.

The Nupi Lan observation was held today at Heirok Part-II Mayai Leikai community hall on the theme 'Nupigee Numit' jointly organised by Ningol Club Heirok and Manipur Women's Federation (MWF).
Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur president Th Manihar; Ningol Club Heirok president Kh Sophiya; FOCS Manipur vice-president BM Yaima Shah; MWF president Kh Shini Leima; Heirok Apunba Club convener Th Roshan Luwang; Imagi Meira convener Th Sujata; Thawai Meerel co-convener P Sanahanbi Devi and DLC club Heirok part-II Mayai Leikai president N Roshan graced as the presidium members of the observation.
As a part of the observation, the attendees observed two minute silence in honour of the martyrs of Nupi Lan and prayed for the peace of the departed souls.
Speaking as the resource persons, DM University Associate Professor, Dr Noni Arambam spoke at length on the significance of Nupi Lan and the prevailing tense situation in the State.
Leaders of prominent organizations of Manipur and Meira Paibi leaders were honoured during the occasion by presenting traditional shawls.
In line with the Nupi Lan observation, a one day voluntary blood donation awareness campaign was held today at the Blood Centre and Transfusion Unit, District Hospital Thoubal organised by the Association of Voluntary Blood Donor Manipur, Thoubal Branch.
A total of 23 blood donors donated blood in today's camp.
