Double delight for Shanker Heisnam at CLTA AITA National Series Tennis Tournament

IMPHAL, Dec 16 : Manipur's Shanker Heisnam sealed both the U-18 boys singles and doubles titles at the HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited CLTA AITA National Series Tennis Tournament-2023 organised by the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association under the aegis of All India Tennis Association.
Shanker Heisnam, who claimed the doubles title with Chandan Shivaraj by defeating the pair of J Prakash Pawar and P Prasanakumar 6-0, 3-6, 12-10 in a keenly contested final clash, went on to earn the singles title with an easy 6-3, 6-3 win over Jatin Nain today.
Third seed Shanker Heisnam overcame top seed Chandan Shivaraaj of Karnataka in a three- setter marathon match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 yesterday to make it to the final. The Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) has expressed happiness over the achievements of promising tennis star Shanker Heisnam in the State as well as National level events.
