Governor visits Behiang, assures all possible help Check entry of illegal migrants call issued

Governor La Ganesan visited border village Behiang in Singngat sub-division of Churachandpur district today and interacted with District Level Officers (DLOs), representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), village chiefs, chairmen and villagers and took the ‘get vaccinated’ message there.
The Governor also urged the people to check sneaking in of illegal migrants from neighbouring countries.
He heard the issues and grievances raised by them and assured to extend all possible help.
The Governor also visited A Company, 46 Assam Rifles, forward post at Behiang and interacted with officers and jawans posted at the area. The Governor visited Chivu Chandrakirti Memorial Park at Tonjang too.
Speaking at the interaction programme held at Behiang Public Ground, La Ganesan said that he came to the sub-division to know the problems being faced by the people and to explore the ways and means to address it.
Although  there may be some issues which need special attention, most of the issues related to education, healthcare, connectivity etc., should be taken care of, he said and assured to consult with the Chief Minister and the departments concerned to look into the matter.
La Ganesan further said that drug abuse, poppy cultivation and drug trafficking are some major issues of the State and the Government is giving much efforts to curtail it.
He stated that the number of drug users particularly among the youth is increasing manifold during the last few months and sought cooperation from CSOs and the people to check it.
Expressing concern over the issues of illegal migration, smuggling of drugs, weapons etc, the Governor said that sneaking in of illegal migrants from neighbouring countries into 'our territory should be prevented with the assistance of people.'
On Covid vaccination, the Governor said that vaccination is the first priority to prevent the pandemic.
He appealed to the villagers to get vaccinated against Covid.
On TB elimination, he said that the Government of India is committed to eliminate TB from the soil of India by 2025.
He also appealed to the district authorities concerned to conduct a survey to find out TB patients and carry out remedial measures.
The Governor also spoke about the importance of the Swachh Bharat Mission, to make India a clean India.
La Ganesan said that Churachandpur is progressing fast although it lies in the periphery.
