Moirang's spot in history stressed

BISHNUPUR, Jan 31 : The executive committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh was held at the INA Martyrs Memorial Auditorium Hall today with Chief Minister N Biren Singh and State BJP president A Sharda presiding.
Today was the last leg of the two day meeting of the office bearers and State executive committee members. Party leaders from across the State and elected BJP MLAs attended the meeting.
During the meeting, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda feted Chief Minister N Biren Singh with presents on the State being awarded India Today’s most improved small State.
Former Union Minister and Padmashree Th Chaoba was also present.
The gathering also observed a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect to departed party leaders and workers.
Speaking to the gathering, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the party is in sync with the Government and both are functioning at their best.
The Government is successfully carrying out the War on Drugs and is destroying poppy plantations. 7-8 village chiefs were arrested for their involvement in cultivation of poppy and they have been advised to shun such practices. The Government is also providing alternative crops to curb poppy cultivation, he said.
Moirang has an important place in the history of Manipur. It is also a place where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s INA soldiers first unfurled the National tricolour during the struggle for freedom from the British. Now the Moirang INA HQs has the highest tricolour flag in the whole of the North-East, he said.
Further, considering the importance of the Polo game and the need to promote it, India’s highest polo statue has been built at Heingang.
Under the BJP-led Government, road infrastructure in the State has improved significantly, he added.
The Chief Minister also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
