Zomi Nam Ni celebrated

CCpur, Feb 20 : The 75th edition of Zomi Nam Ni was celebrated at different locations across the State on Monday.
The main event held at Gospel Centenary Hall, New Lamka was attended by Rajya Sabha MP and titular King of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba as the chief guest along with Thanlon MLA, Vungzagin Valte; Churachandpur MLA, LM Khaute; Singngat MLA, Chinlunthang Zoute; Henglep MLA, Letzamang Haokip and former Singngat MLA, GS Haupu.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba appreciated the fact that Zomis are a family of nine sister tribes and Nam Ni was observed for the 75th years.
He described the State as mini-India which is home to over 40 tribes and called for unity amongst the people.
As part of the event, "Understanding the Zomi", a compilation of research work on Zomi by (late) Dr Tualchin Neihsial was also released.
Prior to the celebration, football tournament named Zomi Nam Ni Platinum Jubilee Cup 2023 that ran for over a month concluded at Lamka Public Ground.
