5th KIYG : Nilam wins weightlifting silver, L Abi bags sabre silver

IMPHAL, Feb 7 : L Nilam Devi and L Abi Devi won a silver medal each in the weightlifting and fencing events as K Kane bagged a fencing bronze medal in the ongoing 5th Khelo India Youth Games.
L Nilam Devi won the silver medal in the women's 55 kg event with a total lift of 171 kg yesterday.
L Abi in the meantime won the silver medal in the individual girls sabre event (fencing) today.
K Kane, meanwhile settled for the bronze medal in the epee event.
With the results, Manipur's tally has risen to 14 medals including 3 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Mention may be made that Mandengbam Jadumani (51 kg), Thongam Kunjarani (60 kg) and Huidrom Griviya (54 kg) won Manipur gold medals for Manipur in boxing event as  Chinglemba Moirangthem (63.5 kg) won a silver medal after Leichombam Lamnganba (54 kg), Leimapokpam Rahul (75 kg) and Melody (63) won bronze medals. Eventually the state team emerged runners up.
Earlier, Kh Dhanamanjuri won a silver medal in the 500 m sprint canoeing and kayaking event as Heisnam Premika, Sarangthem Bidyarani and Yurembam Geetu won a bronze medal in the 500 m team sprint (cycling).
Ngaseppam Anjelika had also won Manipur a silver medal in single soti event of Gatka before N Tomchou won a silver medal in the 55 kg category weightlifting competition.
