MNCA Superplate TourneyKCC beat UCC in last over thriller for second Group B win

IMPHAL, Mar 12 : KCC-Kongba Bazar secured a narrow 2 wicket win over UCC-Uripok Khaidem Leikai for the second straight Group B win in the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak today.
UCC posted a moderate total of 211 runs for 9 wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat first but KCC overcame pressure to chase down the target with just 1 ball and 2 wickets left to spare.
UCC had a disastrous start to their innings but Sagolshem Nelson (27 off 62 balls), Roshan Dash (21 off 27 overs), Thangjam Anson (31 off 23 balls), Nameirakpam Komol (26 off 43 balls), Moirangthem Satish Kumar (32 off 24 balls) and Laishangthem Bishorjit (28 not out off 33 balls) played their part to take their tally past the 200 run along with the help of 31 extras conceded by KCC bowlers.
Singthoi Nandeibam was the pick of KCC bowlers claiming four wickets for 40 runs in 6 overs while Yumnam Sheiteendra enjoyed a two wicket haul (2/9 in 8 overs which include 4 maidens).
In reply, KCC had a slippery start and were reduced to 56 for 4 in 10.2 overs before Keisham Basantakumar anchored with an unbeaten 53 off 75 balls to forge a 101 run partnership with Wahengbam Somorjit (59 off 42 balls) for the 8th wicket.
After Somorjit's departure, Basantakumar and Yumnam Sheiteendra (9 not out off 8 balls) guided their team to a winning total of 214 for 8 in 39.4 overs. Asar Hussan was the most successful UCC bowler registering three wickets for 38 runs in 8 overs while L Bishorjit, Thokchom Yohenba and Konsam Gulson shared a wicket each.
Keisham Basantakumar who scored an unbeaten 53 and picked a wicket eventually earned the man of the match accolade.
KSDO-Kiyamgei will play YWC-Langthabal in a Group A match tomorrow at the same venue.
