Chumbang Cup : LYCC, Kotlenphai prevail on Day 1

IMPHAL, Mar 13 : LYCC, Liwa Changning and Kotlenphai emerged victorious in the opening day of Chumbang Cup 2023 at Chumbang Village in Chandel district, today.
The opening match was played between Chumbang-B and LYCC wherein the latter defeated the hosts 4-2.
It was a comeback win for the visitors as the first half ended 2-0 in favour of Chumbang-B.
Surchand of the hosts netted the opener in the 11th minute while his team-mate Koningpar doubled the lead 2-0.
Despite the deficit, LYCC played an attacking football in the  opening minutes of the second half and managed to open their account through Borningkham in the 49th minute before Ngamsha  struck the equaliser in the following minute (50').
The visitors went on to show dominance in the second half  and  grabbed the lead (3-2) in the 53th minute through Stephen while his team-mate David smashed home their fourth goal in the 90+3'
In the following match, Lunminlan displayed a prolific performance as Kotlenphai trounched All Star 9-1 in a one sided match.
The winning side scored four goals in the first half and another five goals in the second including one own goal while the lone goal for All Star was scored  by Umroi in the 59th minute.
Of the nine goals of Kotlenphai, six were netted by Lunminlan as he poured in goal after goal in the 5th, 19th, 34th, 38th, 43rd and 50th minute while  his compatriots Jangkhongam (14') and Boimin (54') scored a goal each.
The own goal, on the other hand, came from Abben in the 28th minute.
