THOUBAL, Mar 15 : At least three players from Manipur who won gold medals for the country in the 2nd World Jeet Kune-do Championship 2023 held at Kandy, Sri Lanka from March 10 to 12 were felicitated today at Yairipok Bishnunaha.
Coach Dr Moirangthem Ibomcha was feted.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the residence of Wangkhem AC MLA Keisham Meghachandra.
The players who were felicitated today were Moirangthem Linthoi ,Singamayum Tajbanu and Amarjit Seram.
The ceremony was attended by social worker Keisham ongbi Robita Leima, Jeet Kune -do Association of Manipur (JKAM ) vice president Loitam Rajen, Yairipok Municipal Council Ward no 2 Councillor Akoijam Romesh, Wangkhem AC nominee Khundrakpam Premnath and social worker Thounaojam Sanjoy.
It may be mentioned that India finished second by amassing 15 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals while hosts Sri Lanka won the championship .
Notably, 13 players from Manipur won medals (12 gold and 1 silver) in the championship.
At the ceremony, the players and the Coach expressed desire for the Government to release the pending incentive awards. They also spoke about the difficulties they faced in participating in international events.
