IMPHAL, Mar 16 : Leikai FC sealed a convincing 3-1 win over Amigos United while Bolero FC and Maipakpi Memorial FA in today's group matches of the ongoing 9-A Side 2nd Maipakpi Memorial State Level Football Tournament at Heirok Part II Litan Makhong City Club playground.
The first match saw Leikai FC registering a 3-1 win against Amigos United as they scored all their goals in a period of 5 minutes.
Samson opened the account for Leikai FC in the 19th minute before his team-mate RK Christopher smashed home their second in the 22nd minute. Vijo netted the final goal of the winning side in the 24th minute.
The lone goal of Amigos United was scored by Seimeo in the 42nd minute.
The following match staged between Bolero FC and hosts MMFA ended in a 2-2 draw.
In the match, Bidyasagar of Bolero FC scored a brace in the 23rd and 27th minute and gave his team the lead but the hosts didn't show any cold feet and drew level the scoreline in quick succession.
Th Thouba scored the first goal of the hosts in the 41st minute while his compatriot A Naresh struck the equaliser in the following minute (42').
Tomorrow, Wangjing United will play Brother's FC in the first match while Chandramukhi FA will square off against Irengband FC in the second.
Altogether 25 teams clubbed into eight groups are taking part in the tournament and they are Sangaiyumpham FC, Bolero FC, Endeavour FC, Maipakpi Memorial FA, Wangjing United, BYFY Yairipok, Brother FC, Yairipok FC, Kanglei Nahaa FC, ASA Lamding, Tam FC Sekta, Hiyai FC, 7-Star FC, Leikai FC, Amigos United, Sana FC, Chandramukhi, Irengband FC, 13 Star FC, KYDO Changamdabi, Young Star FC Heirok, John FC Achanbigei, USCP Phayeng, DM FC Moreh and Sudakar FC.
