IMPHAL, Mar 17: Tangkhul Katamnao Long (TKL) expressed gratitude to all concerned for promoting Additional Chief Engineer Prem Luikham as the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD).
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal president Thanshing WS said that Prem Luikham is the first person from the Naga community who has been promoted as the Chief Engineer of PWD.
He further expressed that the appointment of Prem Luikham as the Chief Engineer of such an important department will eventually lead to enhancement of developmental activities for the society's welfare.
Extending immense gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam for working in the interest of all in a free and fair manner, he expressed belief that the Department concerned will provide designated positions to eligible individuals who will sincerely work for people's welfare.
Thanshing WS also recalled earlier incidents where eligible individuals from the Naga Community were denied their deserved positions which caused dismay to many.
Stating that Prem Luikham is set to retire in three months, the TKL Imphal president appealed to all concerned to extend the service period of Prem Luikham since there is no engineer in PWD at present who meets the criteria of being promoted to the Chief Engineer position.
