Inspection drive

IMPHAL, Mar 17 : Following the discovery of two carcasses of Kharsa with bullet marks at the periphery of Loktak Lake recently, a team of Bishnupur Forest Division Office and district police carried out an inspection tour at Jawa Lamjao, today.
The inspection tour was led by Divisional Forest Officer Dr Rebika Chanu, Range Forest Forest Officer Ratankumar  and Additional SP of Bishnupur Satyam Takhellambam.
Volunteers of Green Brigade Manipur and Wildlife Explorer Manipur also took part in the tour.
The tour began from Upokpi and culminated at Jawa Lamjao.
The team also interacted with the fish farmers operating at Jawa Lamjao.
As per the fish farmers, armed people frequently poached wild animals in the area.
They also said that they had an argument with the poachers on some occasions but didn't go further as the hunters were armed.
